Notes: "Life was not given us that we might eat, sleep, make money, and die, but to learn to cultivate our mind, administering to the needs of an immortal soul, and training the heart to be obedient to God and the light of inspiration........... How many of the little girls who, years ago, flocked to the feast of their minds and souls, weekly prepared for them in our little meetings, are now happy wives and are devoted mothers, all the better qualified to discharge the holy duties of motherhood........... We scarcely stop to think seriously upon any subject but fashion. Our eyes see little but the failings of each other, and our ears are open to scandal and prejudice, while our lips are but the servants of our idle, giddy brain. We are too easily satisfied with ourselves and our labors ........... while the great work of life rolls on ......... we, in our wild mania after pleasure, rush blindfolded past every avenue of doing good .......... while our hungry, starved spiritual natures must stand aside and wait the time when they will be allowed to plead their just cause without being forever silenced by the harsh, unfeeling voice of our own selfish natures." Lillie Freeze, at Annual Meeting of the Young Ladies Mutual Improvement Association, Y.L.M.I.A., November 15, 1880
Debbie and I were up early, had prayer, showered, and Debbie got the last load of laundry from the dryer. She washed and dried clothes all last night. We listened to first few chapter of Isaiah in Come Follow Me. We drove over to our home in Lehi, I got dressed in white shirt, tie, and suite. Debbie dropped me off at Abbington Memory Center at 9:30 AM and she took the keys to the van back to Lyndann so she can take the children to church. Her son, Landan left last night or early this morning. I read some from "At the Pulpit" and set up the room at Abbington Memory Center for church while Debbie was gone. After the sacrament meeting and everything was put up Debbie and I attended the last part Lehi 7th Ward testimony meeting. Debbie and I shared our testimonies. We attended Sunday School afterward. When church was over we came home and changed clothes. I had my personal prayer, asked the Lord to bless the food, and broke my fast I started Friday morning. Debbie did not start her fast until later. I called all the children. Michael texted me that he could not talk (getting ready for a birthday party for Autumn); Matthew and Rae Lynn did not answer. Beth called and I talked to her, Maggie, Tucker, and Andrew. Debbie and I drove back over to help Lyndan with the children. I unloaded the 3 pies and put them in her refrigerator to stay cool until after dinner. Later Anndalyn called her mother from Banff, Canada. The landscape contractor who is putting in the plants can not get anyone to come and water the plants that are set out in buckets and the plants that have been set out with no sprinkler or drip irrigation working. Lyndann has gone out to water them. I sent part of an 1880 talk by Lillie Freezeemail to Beth, Rae Lynn, Autumn, Melodie, and Alex in an email. At 6 PM we ate pot roast and mashed potatoes for dinner. For dessert, we had cherry pie, coconut cream, and chocolate cream pie with ice cream. I listened to scriptures in chapters 1 and 2 of Isiasha. I read some in discourses by Latter-day Saint women. Debbie and I had prayer together before going to bed.
