Prioritized Daily Task

10:30 AM - church at Abbington Memory Center

11:15 AM - Attend church at Lehi 7th Ward

Family File Indexing

I slept in, had prayer, showered, and shaved.  I called Debbie and we had prayer before she gets her mother up and feeds her.  She is spending the nights at Karlene and Joe L.'s.  I drove over to Abbington Memory Center and set things up for church services.   At 10:15 AM, the priesthood from Port Meadows 1st Ward arrived and started services at about 10:30 AM.  After the sacrament meeting and things were put back in their place, I attended Lehi 7th Ward, mine, and Debbie's ward.  After Sunday school class was ended I came home and cooked breakfast/lunch.  I called and faced timed Beth.  I called and talked to Matthew who are celebrating Mother's Day today.  I tried to call Rae Lynn but got her answering machine.  I left a message.  Michael and Autumn are in Isreal, I think.  I texted Alex in Provo.  I tried to make an appointment this week to attend one of the temples in this area but there were no sessions available.  I did some indexing and listen to some of this week's Come Follow Me in Deuterombie, with Jared Halverson.                                                              I tried to call Jane Shealy Chandler, Eva and Joe Ben's daughter, and her family in Jonesboro, GA but no answer; I left a voice message.  The same with Frank Powell at Pleasant Hill in Tallapoosa, GA.  I called Larry Bul and he told me Frank is in a rehab nursing home facility in Buchanan, GA.  They hope he can come home this Tuesday.                                              This week's scripture study from Come Follow Me is the Book of Deuteronomy.  A note of interest regarding the Promised Land in ancient Isreal and modern-day Isreal: Deu. 4:25-2625 ¶ When thou shalt beget children, and children’s children and ye shall have remained long in the land, and shall corrupt yourselves, and make a graven image, or the likeness of anything, and shall do evil in the sight of the Lord thy God, to provoke him to banger:

26 I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that ye shall soon utterly perish from off the land whereunto ye go over Jordan to possess it; ye shall not prolong your days upon it, but shall utterly be destroyed.

Modern-day Isreal (America today) Mosiah 29:26, 27, and 32.   26 Now it is not common that the voice of the people desireth anything contrary to that which is right; but it is common for the lesser part of the people to desire that which is not right; therefore this shall ye observe and make it your law—to do your business by the voice of the people.

27 And if the time comes that the voice of the people doth choose iniquity, then is the time that the judgments of God will come upon you; yea, then is the time he will visit you with great destruction even as he has hitherto visited this land.

32 And now I desire that this inequality should be no more in this land, especially among this my people; but I desire that this land be a land of liberty, and every man may enjoy his rights and privileges alike, so long as the Lord sees fit that we may live and inherit the land, yea, even as long as any of our posterity remains upon the face of the land.

God asks in Deuteronomy 4:32-34  32 For ask now of the days that are past, which were before thee, since the day that God created man upon the earth, and ask from the one side of heaven unto the other, whether there hath been any such thing as this great thing is, or hath been heard like it?

33 Did ever people hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as thou hast heard, and live?

34 Or hath God assayed to go and take him a nation from the midst of another nation, by temptation, by signs, and by wonders, and by war, and by a mighty hand, and by a stretched out arm, and by great terrors, according to all that the Lord your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?

Deuteronomy 4:7.   7 For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the Lord our God is in all things that we call upon him for?

TO  ANSWER THE QUESTION; No there wasn't until America which is also a Promised Land.  I hope all who read this will study the history of America, the miracles we have been blessed with, and a Prophet who also saw and talked with God and lived.  The Lord told the people that a Prophet like Moses God will speak with mouth to mouth and the similitude of the Lord shall he behold. Numbers 12:7,8

A side note: Because ancient Isreal lacked for nothing on their journey most of them forgot everything the Lord had done for them while on the other hand, modern Isreal had hardly anything given to them on their journey they remembered the Lord and did not forget him.  I hope and pray that because you have been given so much from the Lord that you do not forget Him.                                                                                                            Trials are a great teacher to teach us to have trust/have faith in the Lord.  The greatest detriment to faith is often the lack of trials.

Ronald Reagan’s private letter written while President to his dying atheist father-in-law was found and published in the Washington Post. There could be no better words penned to a dying doctor about discovering hope and salvation.

Aug. 7 [1982] “Dear Loyal,   I hope you’ll forgive me for this, but I’ve been wanting to write you ever since we talked on the phone. I am aware of the strain you are under and believe with all my heart there is help for that.

Loyal I know of your feeling — your doubt but could I just impose on you a little longer? Some seven hundred years before the birth of Christ the ancient Jewish prophets predicted the coming of a Messiah. They said he would be born in a lowly place, would proclaim himself the Son of God, and would be put to death for saying that.   All in all, there were a total of one hundred and twenty-three specific prophesies about his life all of which came true. Crucifixion was unknown in those times, yet it was foretold that he would be nailed to a cross of wood. And one of the predictions was that he would be born of a Virgin.

Now I know that is probably the hardest for you as a Dr. to accept. The only answer that can be given is — a miracle. But Loyal I don’t find that as great a miracle as the actual history of his life. Either he was who he said he was or he was the greatest faker & charlatan who ever lived. But would a liar & faker suffer the death he did when all he had to do to save himself was admit he’d been lying?

The miracle is that a young man of 30 yrs. without credentials as a scholar or priest began preaching on street corners. He owned nothing but the clothes on his back & he didn’t travel beyond a circle less than one hundred miles across. He did this for only 3 years and then was executed as a common criminal.

But for two thousand years he has ... had more impact on the world than all the teachers, scientists, emperors, generals and admirals who ever lived, all put together.   The apostle John said, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that who so ever believed in him would not perish but have everlasting life.”

We have been promised that all we have to do is ask God in Jesus name to help when we have done all we can — when we’ve come to the end of our strength and abilities and we’ll have that help. We only have to trust and have faith in his infinite goodness and mercy.

Loyal, you and Edith have known a great love — more than many have been permitted to know. That love will not end with the end of this life. We’ve been promised this is only a part of life and that a greater life, a greater glory awaits us. It awaits you together one day and all that is required is that you believe and tell God you put yourself in his hands.

Love Ronnie”

It was leaders like this who trust and believe in God that I hope and pray we will always have to lead this great country but I am afraid this is not the case.

I had prayer with Debbie in Shelby.  She has taken care of her mother, Jalna, today and went to church.  I got. to bed before 10:30 PM.
