Prioritized Daily Task

General Conference

*Last night the thought came to me to write down spiritual experiences so I do not forget them.  I have tried to do this but may not have labeled them as spiritual experiences.  Some were so strong and powerful that they can not be forgotten.  My conversion, the healing of a broken jaw tooth for two weeks while in the swamps of Mississippi during summer camp in GA Air National Guard, blessings I have given, financial challenges while operating the nursing homes with a controller we had to let go because of the trouble he got us into with the Internal Revenue Service, just to mention a few.  But this one started in February when we did not receive a rent payment for Cason Road Health Care for $20,000.  We did not receive one for March.  I pay tithing a month in advance hoping never to be behind with the Lord.  I have paid full tithing including the anticipated rental income for three months.  I have made a note of this to address at some future date. / I did not receive a monthly rental payment but continued paying tithing as though I did receive the $20,000 through August when it became obvious Dan Guinn was not going to pay the rent and also would not return the $105,000 I had given him to invest.  I plan to revisit this again and bring you up to date on the outcome.

I slept in until about 9:00 AM.  I had prayer with Debbie and my personal pray.  I watched the first session of General Conference and ate breakfast.  President Dallin H. Oaks conducted the session.  Some notes I made were likening the scriptures to myself.  Elder Michael T. Ringwood told the story of Joseph in Genesis.  Many years after selling their brother Joseph, the sons of Jacob needed to take their youngest brother, Benjamin, to Egypt. Judah promised Jacob that he would bring Benjamin home and was “determined to keep his promise and return Benjamin safely.”  Then in Chapter 43:34 Judah says, "For how shall I go up to my father, and the lad be not with me?  Likening this to me, I have been entrusted with many of Heavenly Father's choice sons and daughters and I feel like Judah, How shall I go up to my Father and these little ones not be with me?  We are an eternal family.  If we do not feed and strengthen our testimonies daily they can crumble.  President Nelson was the concluding speaker in the session this morning.  He said the Lord gives miracles to those who trust him and keep his commandments.

Alex called me on her way back from San Clemente.  She was headed to Salt Lake to attend the afternoon session of the 192nd Annual General Conference.  I did so enjoy talking to her.  She is such a delight, a wonderful young lady, and I love her so much.

President Henry B. Eyring conducted the afternoon session of the 192nd Annual General Conference.  President Dallin H. Oaks was the first speaker.  He talked about the 3 degrees of glory, salvation, and exhalation, individuals, and families.  He went into detail about the Family Proclamation of 1995.   The third speaker was *Jörg Klebingat, a member of the 1st Quorum of Seventy.  He followed the theme of President Oaks' talk, “We can accept and respect others without endorsing their beliefs or actions that do not align with the Lord’s will. There is no need to sacrifice truth on the altar of agreeableness and social desirability.” Today it is almost impossible to courageously live faithfully without opposition and scorn. But faith in Christ means one need not fear the reproach of men.    “With the Savior at the helm and living prophets to lead and guide us, ‘who can be against us?’ Let us be confident, not apologetic, valiant, not timid, faithful, not fearful as we hold up the Lord’s light in these last days.”        Zion and Babylon are incompatible. Demonstrate love for the Lord through wholehearted, voluntary obedience. The adversary offers enticing alternatives, but faithful disciples need not apologize for their beliefs nor back down from that which they know to be true. Valiant disciples of Christ will find a way.                                                                                        Many today say there is no sin, or say to ignore the Prophet and Apostles. But the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve love God and His children. “Their words we should receive as if from the Lord’s own mouth, ‘in all patience and faith.’”

I called and talked to Ora and later Elain.  I talked to Alex again after conference was over.  I tried to call Michael, Matthew, and Bret.  I did not get them but left messages on their cell phones.
